During the spring semester of each year the Center for Leisure Services sponsors the Summer Job Fair. Typically occurring on the third Wednesday in February, numerous representatives (from approximately 80-100 facilities) within the fields of recreation, travel, and leisure organizations arrive on campus for a one-day opportunity to interview college students for seasonal summer employment at amusement parks, camps, hotels, resorts, parks, municipal and county recreation departments, the Department of Natural Resources, boy scout and girl scout associations/councils, and YMCA/YWCA organizations. This seasonal employment opportunity is available to ALL college students (either from CMU or other institutions). You do not need to be a recreation major -- these seasonal jobs are open to all college age students. The Summer Job Fair has been established for almost thirty years for the benefit and convenience of students desiring a summer job without having to leave campus to fill out applications or be interviewed. The Summer Job Fair is an excellent opportunity for college students to make contact with facilities for summer employment even if they are not a recreation major. Pictures from The Summer Job Fair, 2008 are now available! Click here to see the pictures. Recreational Businesses/Agencies interested in participating in the Summer Job Fair should contact Dean Wallin, Director, or Jan Howell, Administrative Secretary, of the Center for Leisure Services at (989) 774-3984, or via email to janice.howell@cmich.edu |
